Our Story.

To my fellow creatives out there - I don’t need to tell you that the biggest challenge in running your own business is splitting your time and energy in two - juggling working on your business when you really want to focus on your creative passion. My own creative passion is interior design, and I’ve been working in that industry for close to two decades, both for other creatives and for myself. Over that time, I was also fortunate enough to discover my other passion - business operations. The methodical organizer in me loves developing systems and seeing them increase efficiency and profitability. I enjoy solving the most difficult and pressing business challenges while working with a team and helping them grow.

With Dovetail Creative Consulting I am excited to take my knowledge of the unique ways creative businesses function, combine that with my experience and expertise running creative businesses over the years, and offer business consultation services to creative business owners. The Process:

Our process begins with an introductory call, where we will get to know each other, you’ll share why you’re seeking consulting and we’ll both decide if Dovetail Creative Consulting is a good fit for your business. Should we decide to move forward, we will decide on an estimated timeline for working together. Our baseline recommendation is for a six month engagement, however twelve months is ideal. Once we are officially partnered, we will take a deep dive and learn about and assess your business. This will include time spent with you and your team and time spent going through any records, systems, or procedures you have in place. Following that, you will receive a proposed action plan, and together we’ll make sure it’s the right fit for your needs. We’ll provide you and your team with the tools to implement the plan successfully, and we’ll spend time with you and your team, either in person or virtually, to train and assist on the implementation process. Over time, we will schedule regular check-ins virtually and continue to assist as needed.

  • Assess the Principal’s growth goals for the company and learn what action items they are currently implementing to get there.

  • Assess the team structure and ensure the correct people are in place to do the correct job.

  • Assess company culture.

  • Assess what project management tools we could utilize to get a comprehensive vision of workflow and accountability.

  • Develop and implement systems wherever possible to streamline business processes and create standard operating procedures for team efficiency and client satisfaction.

  • Assess revenue and advise on adjusting rates/markups/fees as necessary in order to increase profitability and/or reduce workload.

  • Work with existing marketing team and/or advise on marketing and branding to target ideal clientele.
